If 59% working professionals prefer to work from Home -importance of cyber security increases
Survey appearing in Times of India reveals that 59% working professionals said they would prefer to continue working from home, according to a recent survey on employee sentiments on returning to work post-Covid 19 by online counselling platform YourDost. While 70% professionals between the ages of 30 and 35 prefer WFH, 65% managers opted for this as well. In contrast, 50% of leaders and founders said they preferred returning to office.
The survey included approximately 1,000 professionals, predominantly from online businesses such as IT, e-commerce showed 11% were even willing to take a salary cut to work from home permanently, while 28% were willing to quit their jobs if their employers forced them to come back to the office.
Employee confidence levels in returning to work were influenced by both physical and emotional factors. While 68% said they are afraid of their family contracting Covid from them, 57% had the fear of using public transport and 49% were afraid of contracting Covid themselves.
WFH point from Cyber Security view point is well covered in my book “ 1 Cyber attack Can Ruin You Forever". You have to be careful with respect to following points :
1 Did you permit employees to use their own devices ? Are they secured ?
Is the laptop or PC being used by him having anti-virus as per your company norms? Is that computer having some personal pirate software loaded on it ?
2 Router can be the weakest link in the configuration. An old router with weak specifications and which password is not being changed frequently can contribute to hacking in a big way and as a result can affect your office computers.
These are some simple examples in which you are prone to get affected by cyber criminals.
